Q&A: Would people have known about Vlad the impaler before Dracula was published?

Would people have known about Vlad the impaler before Dracula was published?
I was just wondering whether people would already have an idea about the person behind the character of Dracula or whether Stoker’s book would have alerted them to do more research?
Also, would Jekyll and Hyde have been around the same time?

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was written about ten years before Dracula.
Some people would have known about Vlad the Impaler. Others wouldn’t. As to whether they wanted to do more research… who knows?

Some people would have known about Vlad Tepes because he was the prince of Wallachia so im assuming that historians and the like would have known about him but i think more people are aware of him now due to Bram Stokers book
